The Mathematics Department’s Summer Assignments are optional for all math classes, except AP Calculus AB. (There is no recommended summer assignment for Statistics, AP Statistics, or AP Calculus BC.) Students are highly encouraged to work on the appropriate summer assignment for the course they are taking during the 2018-19 school year. This is a good tool to keep math skills fresh for the upcoming school year. The math teachers will be available during the first 2 weeks of school to review the summer assignments for any student who works on them.
For Honors Algebra II/Trig, it would be extremely beneficial for you to work on the summer assignment as it reviews the first 2 chapters in the textbook. You will be much better prepared if you complete the summer assignment.
All math summer assignments are available on the St. Vincent Pallotti website. (The math packets are saved as .pdf files, so Adobe Acrobat Reader is required for this download.)
AP Calculus AB: If a student wishes to receive 5 extra points on his/her packet, s/he may turn it in anytime between Thursday, August 23, 2018 and Monday, August 27, 2018 (by 12 PM). Please place your assignment in the box located outside of Room 124. This box is ONLY for AP Calculus AB assignments.
If there are any questions about summer math work, please do not hesitate to contact your math teacher or Mr. Jeremy Rheam, Mathematics Department Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, if you need to purchase a calculator, the Math Department requires the Texas Instruments, TI-84, family of calculators. (A TI-83 graphing calculator is also acceptable, but the TI-84 family of calculators is preferred.) The TI-nspire and TI-89 are NOT allowed. Students are encouraged to purchase a scientific calculator as well.
Have a great summer!
