Every member of St. Vincent Pallotti High School is required to participate in service learning opportunity that reaches out to the poor and powerless in our society.
"What you have done unto the least of my brothers you have done onto me."
Each student is required to complete 20 hours of service each year and turn in a Christian Service
form to their Religion teacher. We request that hours be documented in a timely manner. Please turn in completed hours from the summer by September 29th, for hours completed over the first semester, January 31st and for hours completed during the second semester April 16th. Suggested service activities:
Freshmen should serve their families
Family service includes chores, caring for siblings, helping grandparents or other relatives. Parents (or guardian) will determine what appropriate/necessary service is.
Sophomores should serve their school community
Pallotti concessions, School Play, Cardboard City, Library, school store, Office of Development and Admissions, Campus Ministry, Crab Feast, Bull Roast, Terp Concessions, Ravens Football just to name a few.
Juniors should in a parish or faith community
Parish service includes choir, altar service, clean up days, volunteer projects offered through your parish. Volunteer work with service organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion or Lion Club will be accepted. Winter Haven, Elizabeth House, St Ann's Infant home, our Daily Bread, SOME and many other organizations are run by local churches. See Mrs. Vawter if you need help finding a placement.
Seniors should serve the poor and vulnerable populations of the wider community
Wider community service includes helping the poor and vulnerable, assisting sick, elderly, children and those developmentally challenged, working to prevent disease or poor living conditions, reaching out to prisoners, outcasts, the lonely or isolated, or protecting/ beautifying God's creation.
You must work for a Non-profit agency(Freshmen exempt). Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors MAY NOT work for family, friends or neighbors. If you are unsure if your placement will be approved ASK first. 20 hours of service must be documented for you to maintain your acceptance at Pallotti.
Please try your best to find a meaningful opportunity to serve as Jesus taught us. We encourage you to seek Direct Relational service where you are working right along side those needing assistance.
