Should your child sustain an injury or illness while participating on a Pallotti athletic team, he/she will be cared for by the Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) under the direction of the Team Physician. If the ATC is not immediately available, the athlete and/or coach and/or parent should contact the ATC to notify her of the injury. Failure to notify the ATC of an injury may prolong the injury or cause the injury to be improperly treated. If your child (athlete) sees a physician for any reason, a doctor’s note must be returned to the ATC.
Reasons:
1. Once the athlete has seen a physician, the injury/illness cannot be treated by the ATC. The injury care has now been assumed by the treating physician. Until the treating physician directive is received, the athlete is ineligible for participation for safety reasons (“better safe than sorry”).
The treating physician may give instructions to the ATC for further treatment.
2. Health history is important information in treating future injuries/illnesses. Doctor’s notes provide help provide health history.
