St. Vincent Pallotti High School athletic training does baseline and post-injury cognitive testing for concussions on athletes participating in all contact and other high risk sports. The testing software used is ImPACT, developed through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. (www.impacttest.com)
Athletes on the following teams are baseline tested: Football, Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, Lacrosse, Baseball, and Softball. Once an athlete has been baseline tested, that test is good for 2 years. If an athlete sustains a concussion during the season, the Pallotti Concussion Protocol is followed and athletes are post-injury tested accordingly. For more information on concussions, please view the power point presentation located under the “Additional Links & Information” section in the Pallotti Sports Medicine section of the web page.
