This scholarship is two separate $500 scholarships that will be given annually to St. Vincent Pallotti High School students towards their tuition; one
to a male student and one to a female student. It is given in loving memory of a lifetime of community service and volunteerism by Dick Howard.

Eligible students must have enrolled in St. Vincent Pallotti High Schoolfor the 2007/08 School Year and have been involved in voluntary service in the community for at least a year prior to application forthis scholarship. Activities to be considered include non-profit organizations such as local service organizations like the Lions, Rotary or Soroptimist Clubs; nursing homes, hospitals, the rescue squad, scout troops, or religious organizations. Financial need and recommendations are also taken into account in choosing the recipients.

Applications for the 2007/08 academic year will be accepted from MARCH 15, 2007 through APRIL 30, 2007 and can be mailed or delivered to:

The application package MUST include the following:

1. A cover application including: the student's name, address, phone number and current grade as
   an applicant for the DICK HOWARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. You can download the application form by clicking here.
2. Three letters of recommendation. There should be at least one from the organization and the other two from unrelated individuals who can speak about the student's service to the community.
3. An essay of at least 1,000 words (not to exceed 2,000 words) by the student describing:
   (a) their volunteer service activities
   (b) how it affects other people
   (c) how it affects their community
   (d) how it affects their life

All portions of the application package should be legible. Typed application packages are recommended and preferred.

NOTE: Maintaining a 2.5 GPA and continued community service are conditions of the
scholarship.

DECISIONS FOR THE 2007/08AWARDS WILLBE MADE AND ANNOUNCED NO LATER THAN MAY 31, 2007
