The Stephen J. Edmonds Scholarship was established in the honor of Principal Stephen J. Edmonds. It is awarded to a St. Vincent Pallotti High School student who demonstrates leadership, potential, faith in action, and community outreach. This scholarship seeks to honor students who have the leadership qualities that the Church and Pallotti High School wish to foster. There is an honor and distinction in being named a Stephen J. Edmonds Scholar.
While this scholarship is non-renewable, a student may apply in subsequent years. This $500 scholarship will be given annually to an eligible St. Vincent Pallotti students towards their tuition.
Selection of the awardee will be made by the selection committee and will be announced in the fall..
Student Eligibility
Applicants must be currently enrolled at St. Vincent Pallotti as a 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student. Transfer students must complete one full year of attendance at St. Vincent Pallotti High School before applying for this scholarship. Applicants must be in good academic standing i.e., at least a 2.5 GPA.
Selection Criteria
The scholarship applicant must have a commitment to public service, e.g. past or current involvement with civic organizations. The applicant is responsible for securing (2) references. One of these references must be from a teacher past or present and one from a pastor or a priest from applicant’s church. All references should refer to the applicant’s good character and integrity.
Applicant must enclose a typed essay in 150 – 250 words addressing either of the following questions:
Describe a person in your life who has made you the person you are today. This person can be a friend, relative, or teacher (past or present).
Mr. Edmonds is described as a faithful friend to the whole Pallotti community including the administration, faculty and staff. How can you live out the legacy that so marks Mr. Edmonds as a true Christian.
