Description: This semester class is a survey of computer usage in today’s world. The class will address ethical and moral issues in the use of computers and the internet and how to deal with them appropriately. Students will learn how to use various social networking tools responsibly. They will also learn how to use the Internet as an educational tool, not just for entertainment. There will be a section on Internet plagiarism, a general section on how to use various components of Microsoft Office and a segment introducing basic programming concepts. This class can be used to fulfill the Technology requirement for graduation.
Graphic Design I 3410 Prerequisites: None Credit: .5
Description: Graphic Design is a one semester course that introduces the concepts of graphic design. The students use various desktop publishing programs to produce magazine/newspaper type articles, programs, advertisements and other documents. The semester is divided into two halves, the first dealing mainly with type and layout design and the second with computer illustration and photo manipulation. The course requires that students develop skill in conceptualizing an idea and transferring it to a completed product by completing a series of projects. This course can be used to fulfill one semester of the Technology requirement.
Web Design I 3420 Prerequisites: None Credit: .5
Description: Students will learn the basics of web design using HTML and various web editing and photo editing software. Students will design various web pages and learn web etiquette and language. Students will learn basic HTML. They will also learn basics of design and its effect on their pages. This course can be used to fulfill one semester of the Technology requirement.
