Description: This one semester course introduces the student to the basic components of public speaking-with emphasis on understanding the communication process. Students learn the four methods of speech delivery including skills in preparing for and presenting a variety of polished speeches.

Description: This two semester course has the sole responsibility of producing the annual yearbook which is a printed record of the school year. The student will use In Design and Jostens Yeartech programs to produce the book. There is an extensive journalistic writing component and time management is a must. Students will also learn basic photojournalism skills that will enhance layout and design ability. Students will also be required to participate in selling advertising in order to learn about publishing costs and balancing budgets when producing a product.
Introduction to Journalism 8453 Prerequisite: None Credit: 1.0
Description: This year-long elective course is designed to allow students an opportunity to explore careers in writing and publishing. Students will enhance their overall writing, critical thinking, and organizational skills. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to publish a student-driven school newspaper.
