A Brief History of Pallotti High School

1921: St. Mildred’s Academy, later St. Vincent Pallotti, opened as a boarding school, high school & convent & gained a reputation as the most homelike school in Maryland. It drew pupils from a wide geographic area.

1934: The Pallottine Sisters took over the administration of the school. Well-educated & experienced, they brought an innovative & professional character to the school, which continues to this day.

1938: Under Principal Sister Bede Kurth, SAC, St. Mildred’s received accreditation from the State of Maryland. Enrollment rose from 23 students in 1934 to 179.

1957: St. Mildred’s became St. Vincent Pallotti in honor of the patron saint of the Pallottines. Construction began on a new high school & day care. The new building could hold 400 students & residence for 30 sisters.

2001: The first in almost 50 years, an $8 million, 47,000 sq-ft. expansion & renovation added a chapel, multi-media library, fitness center, wrestling room, locker rooms, athletic trainer’s suite, 2-court gymnasium, & administrative offices & conference rooms.
